Century Composites offers a range of 316 stainless steel hold-down clips made specifically to fasten molded fiberglass grating to structural components. For safety, all grating should be fastened down to prevent tripping hazards.
Tripping can occur when grating is uneven, when adjacent have one deflected and the other not - such as simply walking down a platform, or if a load is dropped on a piece of grating it can become dislodged and either no longer be resting on proper supports or it could become a tripping hazard.
The clips offered include "J", "M", and "G" type clips. It is
recommended that each piece of grating have a minimum of 4 clips, and that there
should be clips every three feet along support edges. Do not skimp
on clips, these are the least costly safety component on a fiberglass grating
installation. The various clips are for potentially
different purposes.

"J" Clips hold a single bar and are nearly the same height as the grating. Thus, these can be pulled down completely to the support under the grating.

"M
" Clips hold two bars and can be used to snug the grating to the support.
Due to the extra holding capabilities, these are specifically recommended for
stair treads. Stair treads should have a minimum of four clips on
each tread.

"G
" Clips are used to hold two separate pieces of grating, or two separate
panels of grating in order that if a heavy load is applied that adjacent panels
will deflect in unison and thus not present a tripping hazard. These
should specifically be used where a grating seam crosses a walking path and
there is no support immediately under that seam.
