Tread Deflection is important to each installation. If the treads flex too much under load, the flex can causing tripping problems long before they would reach a failure problem. Treads should normally not deflect more than 1/4". If your spans are greater than the deflection would suggest, then intermediate supports should be used.
Caution: ALL TREADS should be mounted on support angles attached to the stringers, and fastened down with at least four (4) "M" type hold down clips.
