CENTURY COMPOSITES, INC.
The company was started in 1989
by Dr. Charles Li (Doctorate in Polymer Engineering, Georgia Institute of
Technology - Atlanta, GA)
and Dr. William Drury (Doctorate in Materials Engineering, Georgia Institute of
Technology - Atlanta, GA). Since that time the company has
grown substantially. The initial headquarters and warehouse
facility was constructed
in Tyrone, GA in 1999, a second was added in 2001, and the largest and newest section was
completed in March 2004. The current Tyrone complex totals nearly 108,000
square feet in three buildings with
additional storage available outside if needed.
The company's production facilities include a new facility that has been occupied since May, 2006, and adds 150,000 sf of additional production space. The latest addition is 165,000 sf opened November 2007. The next expansion is expected to expand the Tyrone, GA facilities.
Century Composites began manufacturing fiberglass grating in 1992 and added FRP fittings in 1995. Current product lines are always being expanded and broadened to include a wider range of components in more different resins.
Custom components are a significant part of the company's business, and one which is growing rapidly based on our unique blend of capabilities in fiberglass and injection molded thermoplastics. Such products are attractive when considering that all tooling is done in house, keeping the costs down, quality up, and the project on target.
